What to Expect on the Day of Your Windscreen Replacement

Before the Technician Arrives

Step 1: Inspection and Prep

Your technician will confirm the replacement glass matches your vehicle’s make, model, and features, including any cameras or sensors mounted on the windscreen. They’ll then protect your paintwork and dashboard and carefully remove the wipers and trim around the glass.

Step 2: Removing the Old Windscreen

The old urethane bonding is cut away and the damaged glass is lifted out. This is done carefully to avoid damaging the paint or the frame it sits in.

Step 3: Fitting the New Glass

A fresh bead of urethane adhesive is applied, the new windscreen is set precisely into place, and the wipers and trim are reinstalled. Any cameras or sensors are reconnected and checked.

Step 4: Curing Time

This is the part people often rush. The urethane needs a minimum safe drive-away time, typically around 30-60 minutes, before it’s safe to drive. Full cure can take up to 24 hours, so it pays to be gentle with the car for the rest of the day.

• Avoid high-pressure car washes for a few days
• Don’t remove any retention tape early – it’s holding trim in place while the adhesive cures
• Avoid slamming doors, which can pressure-shock the fresh seal
• Watch for wind noise or leaks after the first rain and get it checked if you notice either
